THE SECOND STRANGER
When the stars vanish, the gods disappear, and strange monsters start spawning in the dark, eight heroes rise to restore balance to Andake.

THE SECOND STRANGER starts with the Cataclysm: a world-rending event that vanishes the gods, plunges Andake into darkness, and spawns snarling monsters. Amidst the terror, four Paragons rise as divine heroes chosen by destiny to save the realm through sacrifice. Joining them are four Keepers: common heroes who forge their own fates.Over the course of eight Arcs, our PCs struggle between fate and self-determination, constantly striving for a better future, no matter how dark the world gets. THE SECOND STRANGER shows that in the face of grief and despair, all of us have a choice to give up—or keep fighting for the people we love and the places we call home.
All episodes are now available on Youtube, and drop in audio-only formats on Tuesdays and Thursdays wherever you pod your casts!
Mission

THE SECOND STRANGER is Transplanar RPG's weekly flagship D&D campaign set in Andake: an anti-orientalist realm based on Asian mythologies. Our show reclaims dark fantasy by cultivating hope in apocalypse, centering trans narratives, and uplifting Black, Asian, Latine, and other voices of color. We're proud to be a leader in actual play that commits to diversity and produces a highly polished, narratively stellar show that's been featured in the New York Times, Gizmodo, Dragon Talk, and Dicebreaker.

Narrative Goals
We create compelling worlds, portray dynamic characters, and tell thrilling dark fantasy stories with hairpin twists and devastating cliffhangers. Our action-packed series revolves around Asian mythologies and is set in a world where Black, Brown, queer, disabled, transgender, and marginalized people are the heroes and commoners of the realm. Our PCs and NPCs are complicated, powerful, three-dimensional inhabitants of Andake who unravel dangerous mysteries, challenge terrible foes, and make heartbreaking choices. Ultimately, THE SECOND STRANGER challenges the normative "Hero's Journey" that pervades mainstream media by basing the heart of our story around broken people chosen by broken gods, striving to save a broken world.
Industry Goals
TTRPGs are changing. Audiences are hungry for fresh takes on fantasy — and new voices to tell those stories. Since our inception in June 2020, Transplanar RPG has become a vanguard of this evolution, proving daily that dark fantasy doesn't need racism, sexism, transphobia, or colonialism to punch hard — and we're proud to lead the industry by example. At the end of the day, Transplanar RPG is all about elevating queer, trans, and performers of color, telling stories that matter, and imagining worlds that don’t exist yet — but we hope will soon.
